My Father Said

"My Father Said" is a book written by Norma Rowe-Edwards and will be the first book with information about Accompong Maroons, written by someone from Accompong. The manuscript is in the hands of editors each with experience vital to the success of the information to be delivered. As we fine tune the work we ask for your patience. See you soon.

The 272nd Annual Janurary 6th Celebration

This past January 6th, we held the 272nd annual celebration of Kojo's Birthday and Signing of the Peace Treaty. As usual, the celebration was attended by our community members, Jamaicans, and people from all over the world.

We drummed at the Kindah tree, marched to Old Town to acknowledge our ancestors, marched to the Seal Grounds and shared the ceremonial pig. We later came together at the parade grounds to enjoy more performances, speeches, and eachothers company. Soon to come are videos from the celebration and our main speaker Mr Earl Witter, QC J.P.

Getting Started

Welcome to the website Accompong Maroons (www.accompongmaroons.blogspot.com). My name is Norma Rowe-Edwards and I am the Deputy Colonel of the Trewlany Town Maroons, Accompong State.

This website has been created to share with you and the world information about our community, heritage, and culture. I will be posting information about Accompong, the Colonel, myself, news about the community, and our other maroon sisters and brothers.

I am currently editing my first book "My Father Said" on the stories about maroons and Accompong that my father told me when I was younger.
